Remarks:

According to local botanists, this species was wrongly given the name of Allium paniculatum, and this taxon can be seen in several old publications. As a matter of fact, Allium paniculatum (the Panicle Onion), is not found in Malta. -

Fallow fields, country paths and disturbed ground (especially besides arable areas).

Localities in Malta:

Rare. Few specimens encountered in Gnejna. Previously reported in Buskett, Girgenti, Mtahleb, Wied Babu and Ghajn Tuffieha as well as a few places in Gozo (Nadur, Mgarr).

Plant Height:

30-80cm.

Flowering Period:

May - Jul

Protection in Malta:

Not Protected by Law (LN200/2011 or LN311/2006)

Red List 1989:

Not listed in the Flora section of the National Red Data Book (Lanfranco, 1989)
